1John 4:9-10 NIV 2011
This is how God showed his love among us. He sent his one and only son into the world that we might live through him. This is love not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Both Paul and John agreed God loved the world by sending His Son to pay sins’s price. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The Bible reveals from Genesis to Revelation God loves all, both young, old, rich or poor, who choose to believe in Jesus. God loves every believer unconditionally.
One author wrote, “Why are we so slow to understand that the initiative to love is always with us?” 1 John 4:19, “We love because he first loved us.” Because I am loved by God, I’m given the capacity to love others. There are times when that is in short supply in my daily life. Walking each morning I try to maintain social distance as I walk. Instead of just walking I’m called to smile and love that person approaching. Created in God’s image, all are worthy of my love.
How do we love the people in our lives?
Loved by God,
