Hosea 3:1 NIV 2011
The Lord said to me, “Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes.”
God called Hosea as His prophet to speak to Israel. The Lord loved the people of the promise and longed to take them back. This was God’s model given to Hosea when he married Gomer. Hosea’s love for his unfaithful wife illustrated God’s love for His unfaithful people. Hosea 11:1, “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.” The northern kingdom of Israel continued to worship idols, drawing further away from the Lord. The unarmed enemy that would capture Israel was Assyria. Hosea 14:1, “Return, Israel, to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall!” God is Forever Faithful.
For many of us, salvation is a transformational event in time. Remaining close to the Lord in prayer and fellowship with other believers, I began a walk of faith. Along the way I allowed the world to get between the Lord, and myself. I was much like Israel and sin was my downfall. Graciously God did not abandon me but purposely pursued me. Repenting and asking His forgiveness, we can once again walk with the Lord. God is consistently Forever Faithful.
Where is God’s Forever Faithfulness visible daily?
Finding Him faithful forever,
