2 Corinthians 3:5-6 NIV 2011
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of the new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Paul was a Pharisee steeped in God’s Law. With this in mind, he boldly proclaimed his bonidfide’s had nothing to do with he knew but who he was in Chirst. His source of power and authority came from God alone. Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” The Lord made him competent which gave Paul the confidence he needed in all that he did. 2 Corinthians 3:4, “Such confidence we have through Christ before God.” Confidence is found through faith in Christ’s finshed work at the cross.
Both the Old and New Testaments tell us faith in the Lord will get us through anything. Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Mark 6:38, “Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’” As a woman of faith, this pademic shows me my faith gives me confidence daily. I see fear in many but I’ve also seen faith in many more. Because of my faith I’m confident our competent God is saying, “Just believe.”
What are others seeing in us?
Confident we’re competent through Him,
