Numbers 6:26, John 14:27 NIV 2011
“The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Moses modeled God’s priestly blessing for Aaron. Numbers 6:23b, “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites.’” Peace in Hebrew is shalom. One commentator wrote, “Such peace comes only from the Lord.” Jesus offered the same peace to those who followed Him. Luke 24:36, “While they were still talking about this Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’” Paul used similar words in his letters. Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Peace comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
We’ve been walking through the book of John each Sunday since January 2020. Pastor Dave digs deep each sermon. I’ve also studied the book of John twice in BSF; once with Carol Calvert and once with Margaret Henschel both TL’s. My Blue Bible has black notes from Carol and blue from Margaret. Each of these that’s spoken has a their own unique approach to God’s Word. All three agree: Faith in Jesus Christ requires a response of action. Peace comes daily through my active faith in Jesus Christ.
Where do we find our peace?
