1 Chronicles 28:9 NIV 2011
“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.”
Though Saul was Israel’s first king David was anointed by Samuel king before Saul’s death. David’s son reigned after him. Chosen by God David’s son Solomon was David’s successor. They both reigned in Israel’s united kingdom. After Solomon thirty-nine kings reigned in the divided kingdoms of Judah and Israel. While Israel had none that did what was right in God’s eyes, Judah had six that did. Sin always brought judgment and disaster through illness or defeat in war. Each time the king repented, the people followed. Repentance, obedience and trust yielded piece, victory and prosperity. God is Sovereign.
Looking at the craggy peaks while walking this morning, a smile tugged at my lips as I thanked God for the beauty of His creation. Anticipating the view from my window seat in the morning as we land in Seattle, more of God’s beauty to behold. How often do we take for granted all God has created for us? What does He want from us? To daily do what is right in His eyes. I’m thankful God is Sovereign.
How does God’s sovereignty keep us upward focused?
Doing it right together,
