Psalm 32:6-7 NIV 2011

Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from the trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

David’s knowledge of God led him to confess his sins because God was faithful to forgive his sins. These words were his sincere statement that his life was secure in God alone. Isaiah knew and preached to Israel to call on the Lord because He’s ever present. Isaiah 55:6, “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.” God cares for and is a refuge for His people. Psalm 9:9, “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” God forgives repentant sinners enabling them to do the next right thing.

There’ve been days when waves of frustration washed over me clouding the path ahead. Looking to the Lord is the one thing that consistently brings everything back into view. Like David, I know God is faithful. My security is found in Him. When I call on the Lord, He hears my cry. He’s cared for me in the past and continues to care for me daily. When sinful ways lead me astray, I confess the sin. He enables me to do the next right thing.

How does God empower believers to turn from sin?

Doing the next right thing together,
