1 John 5:3-4 NIV 2011
In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
John wrote to reassure believing Christians. John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commands.” Jesus said His yoke was easy. Matthew 11:30, “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” The Holy Spirit drives believers toward obedience to overcome obstacles. John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Faith in the Incarnate Son of God is the key to overcome the world.
After a year of living with an unknown virus, we are still here together. As a Christian, I’ve leaned into the Lord more daily because I know He’s the author and finisher of my faith. I decided to live by faith and not fear. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. The Lord God knows what is going on and has given each of us the ability to weather this too. Jesus died for sinners like us. Our faith in Jesus Christ is the key to overcoming the world today!
What stands in the way of us overcoming?
