Luke 2:14, Romans 5:1 NIV 2011
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 2:13, “Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying…” They heralded the birth of “the Messiah, the Lord” to the shepherds tending their flock. Isaiah 52:7, “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace…”
Isaiah’s proclamation of peace for God’s people was a picture of the future peace that came through Jesus. Paul’s words to Rome described the peace experienced at salvation. No longer are saved sinners enemies of God. Peace with God is found through faith in Jesus Christ.
As a believer of Jesus there is no expectation that I will have peace on earth. Things happen on a daily basis that keeps peace at bay in my life. The one thing I can rest in is the peace of mind I receive when I take any situation to the Lord in prayer. Jesus’ words are specific. John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” D.L. Moody’s wrote, “God has not left it for us to do. All we have to do is enter into it.” Through faith I have peace with God.
How does peace with God change us?
Entering into peace,
