Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen…
Paul reiterated what he wrote in chapter 2 Corinthians 4:1, “Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have the ministry, we do not lose heart.” He called the church at Corinth to share because Jesus would sustain them. Isaiah 40:31, “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…” Preaching Christ crucified came at a personal cost. Romans 8:18, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Painful unpredictable situations push believers to fix their eyes to Jesus.
A friend reached out today asking for prayer for her son. I prayed for the situation and added a prayer for him to see God’s love in a special way today. Remaining focused daily on who is the author and finisher of my faith, I know where to find “true north.” With that direction in mind, I can chart south, east and west. Spending time in His Word here as I write, I know who Jesus is because I fix my eyes on Him.
