Genesis 1:26-27 NIV 2011
Then God said, “let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over…all…” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them male and female he created them.
God created man. Genesis 5:1, “This the written account of Adam’s family line. When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God.” Made in His image included righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:24, “and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” God created man; out of that man a woman. Mark 10:6, “But in the beginning of creation God made them male and female.” Psalm 119:73, “Your hands made me and formed me; give me the understanding to learn your commands.” Man was made in God’s image to be His representative on earth.
To the world in which we live today, image is everything. While I agree we can never make a second first impression, I do know I need to be concerned with my image as a follower of Jesus Christ. By relying on the Holy Spirit to guide my daily walk, Jesus’ Light will shine brightly from deep inside as His. By reflecting the image of the Creator God, His peace and wholeness will draw the least, the lost and the lonely to Christ. Made in God’s image, I’m His representative.
How are we as believers bringing God glory?
