1 Timothy 4:12, 5:7a NIV 2011
Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
Give the people these instructions…
Paul’s letters to Timothy were written to encourage him in his ministry to the church in Ephesus. Age had nothing to do with his call to serve the Lord. When the Lord called Jeremiah to speak, Jeremiah thought he was too young. Jeremiah 1:7, “But the Lord said to me, ‘Do not say I am too young.’” Paul encouraged Timothy to be Christ’s example to everyone by the way he lived his life as a believer in Jesus Christ. Titus 2:7, “In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness.” Laying down a lasting legacy begins by living for Christ.
What will people remember about me? After this week, my husband might say, “I’m a shrew.” My daily expectations include an early morning walk with the Lord when I get up. Summer temps require an earlier morning walk time to finish before it’s too hot. I’ve just remembered that every large structure here has A/C and I can just drive to one and walk there in it’s cool comfort. I need my actions to reflect Christ at home as well as elsewhere. Leaving my legacy of Christ begins at home.
How does a Christ-like legacy encourage others?
