Joshua 8:1-2a NIV 2011
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land. You will do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho.”
“Then the Lord turned from his fierce anger.” After Achan’s stoning due to his sinful disobedient behavior, the Lord gave encouragement to Joshua. The Lord’s words to others as well as Moses were much the same. Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or horrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you.” God consistently gave reassuring words to His people. Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” The Lord remains with those who trust Him.
During our Tuesday morning study of the book of Joshua today, we talked about this passage. God was consistently with His people from Genesis to Revelation. Because I trusted God I was strong and courageous as we walked Mandi into eternity. Each time I visited a dear friend with terminal cancer, God was beside me. Throughout the prolonged period of time my blood pressure was uncontrollable, I was never afraid because I knew the Lord was right there. Daily trusting the Lord He remains with me.
When has trusting the Lord revealed His presence?
