Psalm 65:4-5a NIV 2011
Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.
You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth…
“A psalm of David.” One commentator wrote, “A hymn in praise of God’s great goodness to his people in answer to their prayers.” The book of Psalms begins with the word blessed. Psalm 1:1, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked…” God’s chosen people received His ever-flowing blessings. Psalm 65:3, “When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions.” By God’s mercy, the Israelites were delivered from Egypt and He returned them to Canaan, the eternal home of Israel. God hears the joyful praise and prayers of His penitent people.
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all the lands.” Psalm 100:1 RSV. The first Scripture I ever memorized. At yesterday’s end, this was the feeling of joy in my heart. I do believe that is what is missing in the hearts of many today. Anger and hate is what fills the news cycle. The way we vote doesn’t define who we are. I am defined by the life I live in Jesus Christ. I’m blessed beyond all measure. He is my Hope. He hears and answers my prayers daily.
How do we make joyful noises when God answers prayer?
