2 Corinthians 6:6, Colossians 3:12 NIV 2011
In purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love…
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Paul challenged God’s faithful to be kind. That meant more than merely talking about being kind but actually living it out. Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” David’s confident prayer was offered knowing out of God’s kindness and love He would answer his prayer. Psalm 86:5, “You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.” Followers of Jesus needed to set themselves apart by looking Christ-like in all they did. Those acts of kindness would illuminate their lives. God calls His faithful to be kind.
“Be kind rewind” If you remember this you know what a VHS is. I know and I’m old. But I would ask, “Is kindness something from long ago?” Today I read a daily devotional, One Year Devos for Teens about kindness. The author asked, “Am I kind?” That hit me in the head. For the past four months though I’ve tried to be kind, I’ve seen times when kindness was in short supply. Romans 5:8b, “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” I’m called to be kind daily.
Where is God showing us specific ways to be kind?
Kind to others,
