Job 1:20-21 NIV 2011

At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”

Job had just received information that all his children died in an accident. After loosing everything at Satan’s hand, he began to mourn as Jacob did in Genesis 37:34 when he heard of Joseph’s death. Job’s life had turned from prosperity and joy to one of sorrow. His response was eloquent. He saw God at work in his life even though there was tragedy. Job trusted God’s sovereignty even when difficult and Job was at peace. Only God’s faithful love the Lord when navigating life’s trials.

I must admit, I’ve never experienced anything quite like Job did during his trials. Reading through the book of Job has given me a road map for the last few months. Job did nothing wrong and yet bad things continued to happen to him. Thankfully the story does not end there. Job 42:12, “The Lord blessed the later part of Job’s life more than the former part.” Even when the going gets tough, I know this too shall pass. I’ve seen Him make something beautiful through it all. As a faithful follower, God always helps during trials.

Where will we find His faithfulness today?

Daily faithfully blessed,

S
