Psalm 59:1, 64:1, 143:9 NIV 2011
Deliver me from my enemies, O God; be my fortress against those who are attacking me.
Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of my enemy.
Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you.
David continually went to the Lord in pray during times of distress. He knew God would hear his prayers and answer him when his enemies pursued him. He asked God to deliver him by moving him to a high place away from harm. David petitioned God to listen to his plea for protection from his enemy. Psalm 140:1, “Rescue me, Lord, from evildoers; protect me, Lord from the violent.” He asked to be rescued and restored by God presence. Psalm 18:17, “He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.” God hears the prayers and rescues those who know Him.
As we drove from Columbus airport to Detroit this afternoon, like David, I cried out to the Lord to protect my grandson and myself as we drove fearlessly north. On a tight timeline, I knew it would be oh-so-close to making our flight to Seattle. A quick calculation of a “ticket” kept my speed within reason. Filling the rental car tank with gas, He protected us. Arriving at the gate with time to spare, He heard my prayer and rescued us.
How does God hear and rescue you daily?
