Psalm 25:1, 86:4, 143:8 NIV 2011
In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.
Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.
David modeled lifting his inner most self, soul, to God. He placed ultimate trust in God throughout his life. Psalm 31:6, “I hate those who cling to worthless idols; as for me, I trust in the Lord.” Psalm 143:8, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.” And yet David was human with sinful desires. Ultimately, David understood God to be forgiving of his youthful rebellious ways. Psalm 25:9, “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” Trusting God lifts the soul during prayer.
When coming to the Lord in prayer, standing in awe of our Great God humbles me. As a sinner, saved by His amazing grace, my prayers are no longer “Me” focused but rather “He” focused. Having trusted God like David throughout the majority of my daily life, He reveals His unfailing love ovconsistently. Privileged to pray for friends and family, He knows my heart’s desire for those in need. Trusting God, I lift my soul as I approach Him in prayer.
How will we lift our soul today?
