Psalm 102:25-27 NIV2011
In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.
Genesis 1:1 clearly stated, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” God has always been and always will be. Hebrews 1:10, “He also says, ‘In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth…’” New Testament Scripture affirms Old Testament Scripture. This earth is temporal. Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” God will endure longer than anything that was made by man. Psalm 9:7, “The Lord reigns forever; he has established his throne of judgment.” Creation and Scripture reveal God is eternal.
When I get frustrated with what is going on around me, sometimes my favorite go to thought is, “In light of eternity…” Finishing that thought brings me peace and the comfort that what’s happening is just temporal. When we sat signing paperwork to purchase our home, I asked myself, “Is this a want or a need?” Bathing that decision in prayer before it’s inception, I found peace knowing it was exactly what we were to do. I’m thankful our eternal God is involved in our daily decisions.
What security comes from God being eternal?
We’re eternally His,
