Psalm 91:14-16 NIV 2011
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Why would God rescue him? He was rescued because he loved God. Those who place their trust in God are eternally secure. God is ever present in the lives of His faithful. Having a relationship with the Lord is a step-by-step process of daily communication with Him. Conversations with the Lord keep Him near and the Holy Spirit close by to guide them. Satisfaction comes from God alone by placing complete trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ. God rescues, protects, delivers and offers salvation to those who place their trust in Him.
This is my favorite go-to Psalm when unbelievers ask why I chose to follow Christ. I daily “rest in the shadow of the Almighty” and under his wings I find refuge. That is my God. We’ve been challenged this week to share the Good News by being the fragrance of Christ and sharing our Light. I’ve been blessed with a longer life than my mother’s mother. Quenching my thirst in His Word He satisfies me. Saving me, He faithfully rescues, protects and delivers me.
How does God rescue, protect and deliver believers?
