2 Samuel 7:18-19 NIV 2011
Then King David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said:
“Who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And as if this were not enough in your sight, Sovereign Lord, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant—and this decree, Sovereign Lord is for a mere human.”
David was filled with wonder after Nathan’s words from the Lord regarding David’s house. 2 Samuel 7:13, “He is the one who will build a house for my Name.” David immediately went before the Lord, most likely to the tent that housed the ark. He offered his prayer of thanksgiving with a humble heart because of God’s unconditional covenant. Isaiah 55:8, “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord.” God’s plans are perfect.
There have been times when I’ve thought God might need my help. That never ends well for me. God is holy and sovereign. He does not need my help with any of His plans. God gave David His everlasting covenant to build the Lord’s House. His plan was the birth of Jesus. All sinners have the opportunity to accept Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives: to be saved from the penalty of sin. That was and is God’s perfect plan to save sinners just like me.
What plan does God have for you?
His saved sinners,
