And now Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
God began at the beginning by asking for obedience from Adam and Eve. God called Moses to challenge the Israelites on their long trek through the wilderness to walk in obedience with the Lord. Walking in obedience guides believers to exactly what God wants for His people. Paul gave the church a lifestyle reminder: make sure their obedience to God was His example for their children to see and follow. God calls all His children to obedience.
How many of us have been rebellious? Though it was not in my nature to be rebellious it is, however, for some. Most in my family said one of my sisters was the obedient one. In my mind I was obedient even though I did ask questions that sometimes led to lengthy conversations with my parents regarding them. That character trait opened the door to champion many of my friends. It’s a daily choice to answer God’s leading even when it’s not exactly what I really want to do. He richly blesses me when I obediently answer His call.
