Psalm 42:10-11 NIV 2011
My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Each of the Psalters knew God remained with His people. Psalm 139:7-8, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in depths, you are there.” David knew God and prayed when he was in hard places. Psalm 6:2, “Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me Lord, for my bones are in agony.” Malachi and Isaiah knew God. Malachi 3:6, “I the Lord do not change.” Isaiah 8:10, “for God is with us.” God is with His people.
Matthew 1:23, “‘Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’).” For thirty-three years God was physically with us. He spoke to the prophets, appeared to Moses in a burning bush and remains with us today. For those who do not follow Jesus, they ask us why bad things happen to good people? I use that opportunity to share all the ways I’ve seen God at work in my life. And end with stating I’m better prepared the next time anything happens. I know God is with me.
Where is God when the going gets tough?
Daily with God,
