Ephesians 5:20, Philippians 4:6, Colossians 3:17 NIV 2011
Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And whatever you do whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father.
Paul’s letters impressed upon the faithful he’d visited to have an attitude of thanksgiving when sharing the message of salvation. The Ephesians needed to exhibit thanksgiving in everything. Philippians presented prayer and petitions with thanksgiving; God’s remedy to worry. Pau;’s letter to the church in Colossae colored an illustration of thankfulness, his model the church was to live. Followers of Jesus are to live lives giving thanks to God.
During this time of year it’s easy to remember to be thankful for the birth of Christ. I’m thankful for our time spent with both of our daughters and their families at different times during the Christmas holiday season. Being thankful for all that was done for us at the Cross reminds me how grateful I am He was willing to save and heal me, a sinner not a saint. Believing daily with a heart of thanksgiving enables me to stay focused on His work. As His, I’m called to live my life giving God thanks.
What are the ways others see us give thanks?
Thankful we are His,
