2 Chronicles 33:12-13 NIV 2011
In his distress he sought the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his ancestors. And when he prayed to him, the Lord was moved by his entreaty and listened to his plea; so he brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God.
Manasseh was evil and unfaithful to God. He lost everything including his kingdom and was carried off to a prison. Shackled in that prison, he humbled himself before God in prayer. God spoke to Solomon after the temple’s completion. 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” God is moved by prayers of confession by His people.
There was a period of time in my life when I was unfaithful to God. Not quite as evil as Manasseh, the path I was on could have sent me down a similar path. Thankfully the Holy Spirit finally got through to me and brought me to my knees. Those days are gone forever and I am thankfully right where I should have been all along. Though I did not deserve forgiveness, I received it. My prayers of confession move God.
What daily disobedience keeps us from fellowship with Him?
