2 Kings 19:14-15 NIV 2011
Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord…”Give ear, Lord, and hear; open your eyes, Lord and see.”
Hezekiah received Sennacherib’s letter. 2 Chronicles 32:17, “The king also wrote a letter ridiculing the Lord, the God of Israel, and saying this against him: ‘Just as the gods of the peoples of the other lands did not rescue their people from my hand, so the god of Hezekiah will not rescue his people from my hand.’” Without hesitation Hezekiah went immediately to the Lord in prayer. 2 Kings 19:19, “Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.” God hears people’s prayers spread before Him.
Do we call out to the Lord first or is He our last resort? After many years I can type He is my first response more often than not. Those small little things are still hard to remember to go to Him first but I’m making progress daily. The closer I walk with Him, the more I understand He wants to be there every step of the way. He doesn’t want me being independent but rather dependent on Him. Praying I spread my petitions before Him waiting for answers.
What petitions does God need to hear?
