Mark 12:32-33 NIV 2011
“Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
A debate had just taken place. Mark 12:28, “One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating.” Jesus responded to the teacher’s question. Mark 12:30a, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart.” Though there was enmity between the Pharisees and Jesus, they stood with Jesus against the Sadducees. They acknowledged the Lord as the One True God. He alone was worthy of their worship. Hosea 6:6, “For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.” God is the One True God.
During our leaders meeting this morning, we saw David victorious when his focus remained on the Lord. His model of praying God’s attributes back has been one I’ve used for many years. His Psalms are helpful when I’m in need of prayer. Just like David, I sometimes forget how awesome God is and that He is ever present. Walking in faith with my eyes focused on Him, daily He answers my prayers. Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” I love the Lord my God.
How do you know He is God?
Loving the Lord,
