Luke 1:11-13 NIV 2011
Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will call him John.”
Zecahariah was a priest whose wife was named Elizabeth. Luke 1:5-6v, “…his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God…” Luke 1:7, “But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive, and they were both very old.” Zecharaih prayed. Elizabeth was Mary’s cousins. After John’s birth, Zechariah, filled with the Holy Spirit offered God praise. Luke 1:67-80, “And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the wilderness until he appeared publicly to Israel.” God Guides His people.
I was challenged today to read a chapter in Luke every day until Chistmas. There are 24 so we will be walking through Luke together toward Christmas. It was written to strengthen the faith of all believers in Jesus Christ. My prayer as we walk together the next 24 days, we will have a fresh new vibrant relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In the crazy world that circles around us, I need to remember, God guides me daily.
Who will we walk beside?
God’s guiding us,
