Numbers 14:37-38 NIV 2011
These men who were responsible for spreading the bad report about the land were struck down and died of a plague before the Lord. Of the men who went to explore the land, only Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh survived.
Ten evil men decided the fate of Israel’s continued wandering in the wilderness for more years than necessary. Numbers 13:22, “And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, ‘the land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are great size.’” Because of their sinful behavior, God used a plague to destroy their lives. Their behavior doomed Israel to wander for a total of forty years in the wilderness. Numbers 14:30 reveals only Caleb son of Jephunneh and and Joshua son of Nun would enter. The Lord remembers those who are faithful.
Ending our Tuesday Bible study this afternoon, I asked how my sisters-in-Christ had seen God’s faithfulness during times of difficulty. It was an amazing time of sharing and allowing each other to see beneath the surface of our daily lives. I think we all saw that lives, as a believer is not easy. The one thing we each saw, God was with us in all our difficult times. Remembering that both Joshua and Caleb obediently followed the Lord, God was faithful. God remembers His faithful.
Where have we seen God’s faithfulness today?
We are faithful,
