1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 NIV 2011
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
Many of Paul’s letters include “the God of peace” at the end his letters. Romans 15:33, “The God of peace be with you all. Amen.” The author of Hebrews did as well, Hebrews 13:20, “Now may the God of peace…” God’s peace was to saturate the lives of believers. The Word of God was to permeate the heart and mind of His faithful until Christ’s return. 1 Thessalonians 3:13, “May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy…” Hope and joy is found in Christ alone. 1 Corinthians 1:9, “God is faithful, who has called you…” Having the mind of Christ changes believer’s behavior.
The woman I am today is much different than the woman I was before and after college. Through a time I was not walking with Him, He never abandoned me. Today I found an envelope with a steno pad I used in 1983/84 for note taking. June 21, 1983, “O, Lord, be with us today. Give me strength… Give Mandi the courage to fight… Give us the peace… Be with Nicki and Dawn… Make this radiation work!” My behavior changed with the mind of Christ.
How does He help us change?
Mindfully His daily,
