Romans 5:3b-5NIV 2011

Because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character; hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Paul’s words to the Romans were written as his reminder to persevere even during the hard times. Hebrews 10:36, “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” God gave His people hope through faith in Jesus Christ. 1 John 3:3, “All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.” The Holy Spirit is ever present for believers. Titus 3:5b-6, “…the holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior…” Perseverance comes through God’s poured out presence of the Holy Spirit.

A new job description in BSF equals new opportunities. I was asked yesterday to lead a fifteen-minute discussion with new leaders and any former leaders that would attend that meeting this morning. After prayer I saw God called me to say yes. I had my questions all printed but I prayed the Holy Spirit would guide me. Those questions were a guide to engage all that were online. The Holy Spirit was God’s ever-present gift. The Holy Spirit is present with me me every day as I persevere for the Lord.

How does God help us persevere daily?

God’s prayerful people persevering,
