Psalm 4:6-8 NIV 2011
Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us. Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
David prayed to the Lord for blessings in the face of his uncertainty and frustration. He asked God to accept him and grant him favor. Numbers 6:25, “The Lord make his face to shine on you and be gracious to you.” God alone feeds the heart and restores the soul of his faithful. Acts 14:17b, “he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.” Only God provides what His faithful need. Genesis 27:28, “May God give you heaven’s dew and earth’s richness—an abundance of grain and new wine.” God restores and provides for His faithful followers.
There was a time when, like David, frustration ruled my daily life. Deciding I wanted to return to teaching I began substituting in the district I’d previously taught. I interviewed for many open teaching positions each school year with no success. After substituting for more than three years, God was leading me in a different direction. I didn’t return to public school teaching but found God used my expertise to teach adults, facilitate Bible studies and shepherd women. God restored and provided abundantly for our family.
How does God restore and provide for you?
Following Him faithfully,
