Romans 5:10-11 NIV 2011
For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Paul cautioned the Romans to recognize who they were in Christ, not who they were before they came to Christ. Colossians 1:21, “Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.” At the cross believers are reconciled through Jesus Christ shed blood. 2 Corinthians 5:18, “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” At salvation, the old life becomes new. Security in Christ pushes God’s people to honestly live for Him.
Being honest in thought and deed is how believers walk daily. Balancing the truth with what you think others want to hear you say can be difficult in today’s environment. Walking into a class reunion could drive the most solid Christian to embellish their accomplishment. I either stand with Jesus or I stand alone. I was reconciled the day I chose to give my life to Christ. That gave me the freedom to shine His Light rather than conform to the world. I’m secure in Christ and live honestly for Jesus.
How are we honestly living for Him?
Secured in Christ,
