Isaiah 49:9b-10 NIV 2011
“They will feed beside roads and find pasture on every barren hill. They will neither hunger nor thirst nor will the desert heat or the sun beat down on them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.”
Isaiah was called to Judah and Jerusalem to give the bad news and good news from the Lord God. Judgment would be meted out but God would restore His people. God’s Words paint the picture of what awaits those who remain in Him. Water will be plentiful. Isaiah 41:18a, “I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys.” God reminded them of Moses. Isaiah 48:21, “They did not thirst when he led them through the desert.” God will lead them. Isaiah 40:11, “He tends his flock like a shepherd.” The Lord God is the final arbiter redeeming those who belong to the Shepherd.
Typing this Scripture earlier today, Philippians 4:19 came to mind. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” At Calvary, every believer was given an amazing gift. We live on this side of the cross and when we accept Christ as Lord and Savior we are covered in Jesus’ blood. Daily, God sees us through Christ’s blood and we are seen as righteous. Redeemed by Jesus Christ, we belong to the Good Shepherd.
