Acts 16:29-31 NIV2011

The jailer called for the lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

Luke, the author of the Acts chronicled the apostle’s preaching the Good News and establishing churches. Paul and Silas were imprisoned because they healed a female slave in 6:16-24. The jailer had previous knowledge of their information and was amazed when he found them both in their cell after an earthquake. He wanted to know the Truth that made them stay instead of fleeing. He asked a simple question and was given a concise answer: “Believe.” A similar question is asked in Acts 2:37b of Peter with a more in-depth answer. Those who believe in Jesus Christ will be saved.

Luke, the physician, was clear and concise with his words: believe and you will be saved. Most of the time I’ve an opportunity to share God’s Truth, I’m not short and sweet. Thankfully the Lord is showing me how to say more with fewer words. I need to daily remember His Word is all I need to use. God’s Word alone continues to bring in the least, the lost and the lonely. Yes, we’re all called to share God’s Truth. Jesus saves all who believe He is the Savior.

How will we share His Truth?
