Romans 8:28-29 NIV 2011
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
God knows us. Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you.’” God chose us. Ephesians 1:4, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” Jesus saves us. 2 Timothy 1:9, “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.” We know God by reading His Word. Resting in the Lord requires repetitively reading His Word.
Lunch this afternoon with my sister-in-Christ was bitter sweet. I shared our news of the move in a few weeks. She was surprised but happy. God brought her into my life as encouragement for the time we’ve spent here in Ohio. We’ve prayed for each other over the last five years and have enjoyed meals together. God’s Word has brought us closer together as we’ve shared how He’s at work in our lives. We both shared reading His Word daily we rest in Him.
How does God’s Word help you rest?
Resting in Him,
