Isaiah 40:26, 28 NIV 2011
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens. Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name.
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
Isaiah began the second half of his book with words of Comfort for Israel. He asked God’s people to look to God and remember He is the Creator. Psalm 147:4, “He determined the number of stars and calls them each by name.” Verse 26 ended his exhortation of our victorious God that comes in glory. He questions them about God’s character. Isaiah gave them the answer; God was and always will be “the everlasting God.” Deuteronomy 33:27, “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” God’s power is revealed in His creation.
Looking out an office window today I was struck with the beauty of the landscape that surrounds Las Vegas. Carved out in the valley between mountains God’s beauty is everywhere. Looking close you can see the glacial striations on the mountains, visual reminders of Geology classes. God created this beauty for me to enjoy. Many different varieties of cacti and succulents as well as species of draught resistant trees dot the landscape when I walk through my neighborhood. Daily I see His power in all of creation.
Where is His power visible?
Created by Him,
