Matthew 16:25-26 NIV 2011
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul. Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
Matthew quoted Jesus as he began divulging to his disciples that he would go to Jerusalem and die. They could save their physical body/life by doing things to keep them safe from harm. But to live eternally with Him would come with sacrifices along life’s journey. The disciples were asked to loose their life for Jesus Christ. Mark and Luke both quoted Jesus’ exact words. David’s words Psalm 6:3, “My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long?” From Genesis to Revelation, God’s faithful die. Eventual death of saved sinners guarantees eternal life with the Father.
An old add stated, “A little dab will do ya.” What did that mean? In our daily lives, no one knows the right amount in any given situation or circumstance. As believers, we know what we are called to do each day. We must be willing to share the Good News no matter what the circumstance or consequence. When I don’t want to offend someone, I’m confident I’ll probably be offending someone else. I’m going to die but I choose to take as many sinners into eternity as I can!
What will we do in light of eternity?
Ready and willing,
