John 17:6-7 NIV 2011

“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you.”

Jesus prayed for His disciples. After His prayer they left the Upper Room and walked to Gethsemane. His prayer was long but specific. He first prayed to radiate all that He was as He walked the earth. He prayed for His disciples. Jesus gave them all they needed to share the Good News. They were commissioned to shine His Light by Jesus himself. The disciples learned by Jesus’ example: God the Father had provided for their needs. James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change.” The privilege of salvation empowers saved sinners to proclaim Christ.

This Scripture offers me a powerful picture of Christ daily interceding for me. During a discussion of the book of Joshua tonight, one woman shared Joshua was obedient and faithful. Being faithful is easy when fellow believers surround me. But I need to emulate the disciples and take the Gospel to the lost and dying world around me. We are all called to share God’s Truth. He saved me for His good purpose. Armed with God’s Word, I’ll share Christ came to save sinners like me.

How will we proclaim Christ today?

Saved to share together,
