Psalm 19:7, James 1:25 NIV 2011
The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
The God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament. God’s law is trustworthy revealing to believers His righteous will. Standing firm in His perfect law provides refreshment for the souls to all who believe. For those who look to God’s perfect law, they have freedom to live using His perfect laws. This leads to blessing in all they do for Him. God’s law is perfect because God is perfect.
Nothing for me is more perfect than spending time in God’s Word daily. Sitting on a plane to Seattle, I know the BSF Columbus East Day Women’s class is filled with children intently listening to their leaders share the main truth of God’s Word. Whether they are singing, having snacks, moving around or spending quiet time, God’s Word is woven throughout their morning refreshing and renewing each one. I’m drawn to pray that each little heart is hiding God’s Word right there. I pray that for my grandchildren as well. Those truths are the plumb line needed, as they become adults because God is indeed perfect.
How does our perfect God refresh souls?
Refreshed and Renewed,
