Romans 8:29-30 NIV 2011

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

Paul delineates five things God has done for believers. Because He knew them before they knew Him, He thereby chose them by His amazing grace. He then predestined by conforming believers to Christ’s likeness. Ephesians 15, “he predestined us from adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ.” Christ is the model as God’s firstborn. Colossians 1:18, “And he is the head of the body, the church.” God called, justified and glorified the faithful. Romans 8:28, “…who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 4:25, “…and was raised to life for our justification.” Romans 9:23, “…whom he also called…” The Father calls His children to become like His Son.

Sitting in the Nevada DMV for more time than I cared to spend was an exercise in patience. Then as we sat awaiting a call from our insurance company, I thought, “God has so much more patience with me.” That put this time spent into perspective. My daily thoughts need to be focused on becoming more like Christ and less like me. God predestined, conformed, called, justified and glorified me. I may be the only Jesus some will ever see.

How is God making us more like Jesus?

  1. How very true and inspirational.
Being impatient only makes us more anxious.
    God’s patience is never ending.
And yes, praying to be more like Jesus .
Our world and this is world will be a much better place.
Thanks and God Bless you, Sally.
