Philippians 4:6, Colossians 3:17 NIV 2011
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, presents your requests to God.
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Paul consistently encouraged the faithful to do all to the glory of God. Matthew quoted Jesus in 6:25a, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life…” He used offering thanks in prayer as a remedy for worry. Faith replaces fear. Trust produces thanksgiving. 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.” Paul used words reflecting Christ’s teachings of an attitude of gratitude. Ephesians 5:20, “always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” God’s Word commands His faithful to give thanks.
Thanksgiving feast for two is finished, food put away and dishes done. Giving thanks is something I do each day. Memory verse for November, Psalm 118:1, “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.” I’ve been saying this verse all month to make sure it’s hidden in my heart. I can never out give the Lord. He has been and always will be beside me. God is worthy of our daily thanks.
How have you thanked God today?
Thankful for time with Him,
