Psalm 100:2, 4-5 NIV 2011

Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

The title below this psalm’s address states, “A psalm. For giving grateful praise.” God’s people were called to praise and worship Him through joyful songs. Psalm 95:2, “Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” Coming before God in complete surrender, they were able to worship in the house of the Lord. Psalm 84:10a, “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.” God never forgets His people. Psalm 98:3a, “He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel.” God’s people worship Him and give thanks because He is worthy.

Do I remember to faithfully give thanks to the Lord? As we drove to join family for Thanksgiving Dinner, I asked myself this question. Today it was easy as I thanked Him for getting us here and the time we would spend with family. But on further reflection, I don’t thank Him when I don’t speak with Him each day. Keeping the lines of communication open with God is the key. That requires me to dedicate time each day to prayer. I will worship Him daily because He’s worthy.

Why is thanking God so easy to forget?

Thankfully worshiping God,
