John 20:6b-8 NIV 2011
He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in the place, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.
John and Peter were the first to arrive at the tomb after the women discovered Jesus was not there. Peter entered the tomb immediately and found the linen grave clothes where Jesus body should have been. One commentator wrote, “An orderly arrangement, not in disarray, as would have resulted from a grave robbery.” John entered the tomb after Peter. John saw the risen Savior later. John 20:29, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Jesus arose from the dead and His empty tomb is proof.
Belief in the resurrection of Christ is pivotal in the life of believers. Death did not have victory over Christ and it doesn’t have victory over us. Through faith in the finished work of Christ all believers receive eternal life. The final sacrifice was made. Those were hard concepts to understand as a young person. The more I study God’s Word, the more Christ’s resurrection has meaning to me personally. Knowing He did that for me makes it personal. Jesus arose from the dead and gave me eternal life.
How will we share Jesus’ resurrection?
Thankful daily He arose,
