Amos 9:13-14a NIV 2011
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills, and I will bring my people Israel back from exile.”
Amos’ message differed from other prophets though He was God’s chosen. Amos 5:24, “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” God would judge Israel for its unfaithfulness and disobedience. They failed to honor and obey Him in worship. Jeremiah 33:14, “‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah.’” Hardened by sin they failed the least, the lost and the lonely bringing God’s total destruction. Amos 8:8, “Will not the land tremble for this, and all who live in it mourn?” God is the Strong-arms that carry.
Just as God carried the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land, He carried the exiles and captives home as well. Looking back over my life, I’ve seen Him carry me numerous times. After the final diagnosis of Mandi, He carried me for a long time until I had my legs back under me. When I’ve stepped out in faith to serve, His strong-arms surround me because that’s who God is. Daily I see His Strong-arms lifting all of us in need.
How have God’s Strong-arms carried you?
Thankful for Strong-arms,
