Isaiah 5:24 NIV 2011

Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass inks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah’s words were meant for all of Judah and Jerusalem. Because they ignored God all would ultimately experience His judgement. 2 Kings 22:13b, “Great is the Lord’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words in this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.” He reminded them of their sin. Isaiah 1:4a, “Woe to the sinful nation, a people whose guilt is great, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption!” Each person is responsible for how they respond to God’s Amazing Grace.

God held the southern kingdom accountable for their sins. He holds unsaved sinners accountable. A phone call from my sweet sister-in-Christ down the street affirms there is “a brood of evildoers” in the world today. In the 90 minutes she was gone this morning, someone broke through her security screen, bent the dead bolt lock  and entered her front door. I’d left dental information in her screen door just before this. Praying for her peace and for those who did this to responsibly respond to God.

Who needs to respond to God’s Word?

Bathed in God’s Amazing Grace daily,
