Psalm 40:4-5 NIV 2011
Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.
Chapters 40 and 41 complete the first book of the psalter which began with Psalm 1. Psalm 1:1a,2, “Blessed is the one…but whose delight is in the law of the Lord; and who meditates on his law day and night.” God’s people trust Him because He is their refuge. Psalm 34:8, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” God is incomparable. Psalm 139:17, “How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!” The Lord blesses those that trust in Him.
My uncle ended each Sunday worship service using Numbers 6:24-26, “The Lord bless you and keep you…and give you peace.” At eleven I wasn’t fully aware of the meaning. I understand now we are blessed no matter what. As the toll mounts of those in my life struggling, I pray they continue to trust Him. “Blessings” by Laura Story is a sweet reminder. Daily trusting Him even in those hard places reveals I’m blessed.
How will we trust Him today?
