Numbers 23:19, Psalm 118:8, Hebrews 13:5b NIV 2011

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.

God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

God is not a man. Job 9:32, “He is not a mere mortal like me that I might answer him.” Hosea 11:0, “For I am God, and not a man—the Holy One among you.” God is immutable with integrity not present in the world. God’s people can retreat to His presence. Psalm 9:9, “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in time of trouble.” God’s Word is true and never changes. He never leaves His people. Deuteronomy 31:6, “He will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Immutable God is consistently present; take refuge in Him.

Sitting on a plane awaiting its departure, these verses were helpful to remember. While departure was delayed almost two hours, I knew there was nothing I could do. With my BSF meeting to lead at 7:00 Eastern time all I could do was go to the Lord and pray that He would provide ample time to reach my daughter’s home and lead my meeting. I claimed Deuteronomy 31:6. He will never leave me or forsake me. I take refuge in our immutable God daily.

How does taking refuge in God change the situation?

Taking refuge in Him,
