Genesis 21:5-7 NIV 2011
Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.
Sarah said, “God has brought me the laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.” And she added, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in this old age.”
God fulfilled the promise He made to Abraham. Genesis 17:16, “I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations, kings of peoples will come from her.” At 100 Abraham became a father. Genesis 17:17, “Abraham fell face down; he laughed and said to himself, ‘Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?’” God equips and remains with His people.
I had an Abraham and Sarah moment yesterday. After gearing up in ski attire and boots heavier than my small roll aboard suitcase, I stepped into ski bindings on unfamiliar skis. There was a difference from my skis 47 years ago. I slid along as I approached the conveyor belt lift to the beginner slopes. Approaching the top, I prayed for God to keep me upright remembering my husband said, “Don’t break your leg.” At almost 72, God equipped me with skills to make it down the hill slowly snow plowing my way.
Where is God equipping us?
