1 Kings 1:30, 35b NIV 2011

“I have appointed him ruler over Israel and Judah.”
Adonijah, one of David’s many sons, declared himself king. A deceitful man lacking in godly integrity, he moved forward without consulting his father the king. David acted swiftly after learning of this from Bathsheba and affirmed by Nathan, God’s prophet. He took an oath in front of both declaring Solomon as his heir and God’s chosen. God chose Solomon as king. 1 Chronicles 28:5, “He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.” God’s promises are trustworthy and give purpose to those that trust in Him.

There were times when my husband and I acted swiftly and were the worst parents in the world. I m thankful daily we all weathered life’s storms. They are both doing well and raising children of their own. God doesn’t make any mistakes. I can course correct constantly. When I remain steadfastly focused on God’s promises, I understand and trust His purpose for my life.
How do we wait for God?
