Psalm 32:1-2, 5c NIV 2011
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is not deceit.
And you forgave the guilt of my sin.
David used the same words found in Psalm 1:1, “Blessed is the one…” Using it twice, David emphasized the sanctified state of all who receive God’s forgiveness. Their receipt of forgiveness included the Lord covering their sins. The children of the promise needed to confess their sin and not try to cover it. God knows the heart of His people and their propensity to cover sin. Paul reminded the Romans of Lord’s forgiveness. Romans 4:7, “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.” David confessed his sin of adultery and was forgiven. Blessed are those whose sins are forgiven and covered by the blood of Jesus.
David, though a flawed individual, was still a man after God’s own heart, 1 Samuel 13:14. He knew after committing adultery he’d sinned, confessed his sin and was forgiven. God used him mightily. I was never called to lead a nation, but I was called be a wife and mother. Have there been times when I’ve been an epic failure? Yes, but daily I can confess my sins. I’m forgiven and walk closer to Him. I’ve been blessed beyond all measure covered by Jesus’ blood.
What unconfessed sin stands in the way?
Jesus covers us,
